Exploring the Heart of England in Style

Exploring the Heart of England in Style

Join us on this lovely tour to Great Malvern, famous for its spa waters and the breathtaking beauty of the Malvern Hills. The idyllic setting of the 4-star Abbey Hotel at the foot of the Malvern Hills, adjoining the fine Benedictine Priory in the heart of the town, along with the hotels luxurious accommodation makes this an ideal base for our holiday.

Our itinerary explores the delights of the area including the Black and White village trail, the historic cathedral cities of Worcester and Hereford, the hidden history and splendour of Croome, as well as delightful Ledbury and the Cotswolds.

This tour includes our popular door-to-door collection service.

Morning collection from home to join our coach for the drive to Great Malvern, making a comfort stop en route. We have time to obtain lunch and explore Malvern before checking into our hotel later this afternoon.

This morning we visit Croome. Once the home to the Earls of Coventry, an 18th century trend-setter, today Croome is owned by the ational Trust and continues to ‘follow his lead’ by using artists and craftspeople in the house to tell the story of its eclectic past in Ninventive ways, perfect for making new discoveries. We include admission to Croome Court with three floors to explore, as well as the parkland - ‘Capability’ Brown’s masterful first commission with temples, statues, follies and commanding views over the Malverns along with RAF Defford which has been restored as a Visitor Centre and Museum and reveals the once secret story of RAF Defford with wartime artefacts, emotive personal possessions, videos and costume displays. This afternoon we continue to the city of Worcester with time to explore the city.

Today we are joined by a local guide as we journey through Bromyard to Leominster for a short stop. We continue along Herefordshire’s beautiful ‘Black and White’ villages trail. Our route takes in delightful cottages, inns, shops in timber framed hamlets including Eardisland, Pembridge, Weobley and Eardisley to Hereford where we spend the afternoon.

Our day begins with a short drive along the Severn Valley to Tewkesbury. Described by some as a living museum of architecture and social history spanning over 500 years, the town has such a perfectly preserved medieval character that in 1964 The Council of British Archaeology listed it amongst 57 towns ‘so splendid and so precious that the ultimate responsibility for them should be of national concern’. From here we make the short journey to picturesque Ledbury, dominated by its pretty 17th century Market House.

We depart The Abbey Hotel after breakfast and travel through the Cotswolds via Broadway and Stow-on-the-Wold, arriving back in the Peterborough area by late afternoon where our door-to-door service will take you home.
