Morning collection from home to join the coach for the journey north to the Victorian spa town of Harrogate for the lunchtime period. This afternoon we continue to County Durham and our hotel in Darlington.

After a leisurely breakfast, we depart for the cathedral city of Durham. Here we join the Prince Bishops River Cruiser for an interesting and relaxing cruise around Durham’s waterways, giving a unique perspective on its special cityscape. There is free time to purchase lunch and explore the town, with its independent shops, or the world-famous Durham Cathedral. We suggest that you also purchase your evening meal in Durham, before we travel to Bishop Auckland for this evening’s 9.30pm performance of Kynren – an epic tale of England. Taking place on a vast landscaped stage with a huge lake at its centre hiding a host of surprises, you’ll see many of the characters and events that have shaped England during the 90 minute show. With 29 scenes encompassing the Roman occupation to World War II, history will unfold in front of your eyes, thanks to a cast and crew of almost 1,500 performing on a vast open-air tage. The scale of the show must be seen to be believed. Spectacular sets appearing as if by magic, mass choreography and fierce battles are illuminated withdazzling special effects, effervescent lighting and pyrotechnics, set to a spine-tingling original score. We return to our hotel very late. Please note that Kynren is an outdoor show, so it is important that passengers bring appropriate clothing for the weather.

After a leisurely breakfast, we depart our hotel and journey to York. Rich in ancient history, romantic ambience and fun activities, York is renowned for its exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets, iconic York Minster and wealth of visitor attractions including the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum and much more (admissions not included). We depart York mid-afternoon and return to Cambridgeshire by early evening where our door-to-door service will take you home
