This morning we head north to the charming and historic village of Fochabers, home of Baxters Foods for generations. We visit Baxters Highland Village and travel back in time to the original grocery store, browse the foods and recipes.This afternoon we make our way to the mouth of the River Spey at Spey Bay. Here we visit the Scottish Dolphin Centre (free admission), a haven not just for dolphins, but ospreys, grey and common seals and many coastal birds. Enjoy a stroll around the site; may be see the UK’s biggest icehouse.B, D
Today’s excursion takes us first to the Highland village of Tomintoul. Passing through the villages of Knockandhu and Tomnavoulin we arrive in Dufftown, in the heart of whisky country. We visit the Glenfiddich Distillery Visitor Centre, and enjoy an included tour ending with a ‘wee dram’! Later we continue the short journey to the Speyside Cooperage to discover the specialised art of cask making as we have a guided tour and watch the Coopers at work. This 5-star award winning exhibition will take you on a journey from ‘Acorn to Cask’.B, D
After breakfast we begin our day with a short drive along Speyside to the beautiful Ballindalloch Castle. The castle was built in the 16th century and has been enlarged over the centuries by generations of the Macpherson-Grant family resulting in the fairytale exterior we see today. The castle gardens are the family’s pride and joy. Later we continue to the traditional Highland town of Grantownon-Spey with free time to explore.B, D
We say farewell to the Highlands and begin our journey south via Pitlochry and Central Scotland to our overnight hotel in Gretna Green.B, D
Departing our hotel after breakfast, we continue our homeward journey to Cambridgeshire by early evening, where our door-to-door service will take you home.
