Tue:

This morning we take a wonderful scenic trip through the heart of the Lake District to the ever-popular North Lakes tourist town of Keswick, under the shadow of Skiddaw. We continue to England’s most beautiful lake, Ullswater, for a cruise on a ‘steamer’ from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding. Later we return to our hotel via the narrow, but beautiful Kirkstone Pass.

Wed:

A day of ‘rails and sails’ today! We journey to Haverthwaite to board the Haverthwaite & Lakeside Steam Railway for an included ride to Lakeside. After a brief pause, we join the ‘steamer’ for an included cruise on Windermere to Bowness. Bowness is popular all year round and people come here to sail on the lake or just to relax and savour the atmosphere and the town’s delightful setting. We return to our hotel in time for evening meal.

Thu:

Full steam ahead today as we take a nostalgic trip back in time on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, affectionately known by the locals as ‘La’al Ratty’. We enjoy a return trip on Lakeland’s oldest and longest railway from the delightful coastal village of Ravenglass through two glorious valleys to the foot of England’s highest mountains. Later we visit the market town of Ulverston, which is home to the Laurel & Hardy Museum (admission approx.£4.50).

Fri:

After breakfast, we depart Grange-over-Sands and commence our homeward journey via the superb scenery of the Peak District, to arrive back in Cambridgeshire by late afternoon where our door-to-door service will be waiting to return you to your home.
