We take in some of Britain’s finest countryside, including the rolling hills and handsome towns of Border Country. Featuring a return journey on board the Borders Railway, you’ll enjoy a memorable visit to Edinburgh.

Mon:

Morning collection from your home to join the coach for the drive north to Scotland. We arrive at the Mercure Peebles Barony Castle during late afternoon, with time to settle into your rooms before our evening meal.

Tue:

The Scottish Borders is our destination today, taking in Galashiels,Melrose and later we follow the Tweed Valley to delightful Kelso, with impressive Floors Castle, Scotland’s oldest inhabited castle. We makeour way back via Selkirk, with its associations with Sir Walter Scott.

Wed:

This morning we head for Tweedbank and Galashiels where we join the Borders Railway, which reopened in 2015, for a journey of under an hour to Edinburgh, following the route of the Waverley Line which closed in 1969. We then spend the day in the city of Edinburgh, an opportunity to discover the host of attractions or the shops on Princess Street. The city is dominated by the magnificent Edinburgh Castle, an ancient fortress built on a volcanic crag. In the afternoon we return by train to meet our coach for the return drive to our hotel.

Thu:

After breakfast we have the short drive into Peebles for a morning at leisure in the town and obtain lunch. This afternoon we pay a visit to nearby Traquair House. Dating back to 1107, it is Scotland’s oldest inhabited house. Traquair was originally a hunting lodge for Scottish Kings & Queens, but today this beautiful property provides a magical and romantic setting with extensive grounds, maze, craft workshops and the famous Traquair House Brewery.

Fri:

After breakfast, we depart our hotel and commence our homeward journey. We arrive back in Cambridgeshire by early evening where our door to door service will take you home.
