This is a tour not to be missed. Join us on our ‘Steaming Through Yorkshire Holiday’ featuring four train rides including two by steam and a cruise on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

Thu:

Morning collection from your home to join the coach for the drive to Yorkshire. We arrive at our hotel near Bingley by late afternoon in time for evening meal and a stay of 4 nights.

SB, D

Fri:

This morning we drive to the market town of Settle where we have a little free time before enjoying an included ride on the Settle & Carlisle Railway, considered to be one of England’s most scenic rail journeys. We join the diesel train for the journey through spectacular scenery, crossing the famous Ribblehead Viaduct and stopping at Dent, the highest mainline station in England. At Kirby Stephen we rejoin our coach for the short journey into Hawes, where we have opportunity to purchase lunch. Later we continue along Wensleydale to Leyburn where we join the Wensleydale Railway for an included ride on the first section of the re-opened line to Leeming Bar. After rejoining our coach we return to our hotel.

Sat:

Today we head along the Aire Valley to Skipton - ‘Gateway to the Dales’. The main street houses the well known market,and Kipton Castle stands proudly at the top of the street. There is time to wander around the town before enjoying an included cruise on one of the country’s best known inland waterways. From Skipton we make our way to Haworth, where little has changed since the famous Bronte sisters and their notorious brother lived at the Parsonage. Later we enjoy a steam train ride along the delightful Worth Valley and see the locations used in the film ‘The Railway Children’. We return to our hotel by late afternoon.

Sun:

Our journey today begins with a visit to Bolton Abbey. The abbey and ruined priory are set in a beautiful and tranquil location longside the River Wharfe. We have time for a stroll through this beautiful landscape, part of the Duke of Devonshire’s estate, before making the short journey to Bolton Abbey Station for an included train ride to Embsay. Rejoining our coach, we continue through the beautiful Dales scenery, visiting the village of Grassington with its cobbled streets, diminutive market place and many quaint byways and alleyways.

Mon:

After breakfast we commence our return journey travelling through the superb scenery of the Peak District and arriving back in Cambridgeshire by late afternoon where our door-to-door service will return you home.

This former Gothic mansion house stands in splendid private grounds with views of the Aire Valley and is today a welcoming 3-star hotel. All bedrooms have en suite facilities, telephone, flat screen TV, internet connection, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Amenities include a bar, lounge and restaurant and lifts to some bedrooms.
