Mon:

This morning we travel west to the popular holiday resort of Tenby. With its superb beaches, the old town walls, interesting little side streets and alleyways to explore. This afternoon we include a visit to Llwyngarreg Gardens on the Carmarthenshire-Pembrokeshire border- which will delight the discerning plantsman with its many rarities. Since 2001 this 3½ acre garden has been a labour of love for owners Paul and Liz, who are only too happy to share their expert knowledge and enthusiasm with us as we explore the ever developing gardens. Explore the magnolia garden, bog and peat gardens, woodland garden, the willow structures, ponds, sunken garden and more, before enjoying a cup of tea/coffee and a slice of homemade cake. Please note that visit involves walking on sloping and uneven ground. Sturdy footwear essential.

There is time for a look round and obtain lunch before travelling the short way to the Gower Heritage Centre at Parkmill. Here we meet our guide for a tour of the beautiful unspoilt scenery of the Gower Peninsula, designated an ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’. After the tour we return to the Heritage Centre and enjoy a Gower Cream Tea.

Skirting the Gwendraeth Valley we make our way to the National Botanic Garden of Wales for inclusive entry. Opened in 2000, the gardens stretch over 500 acres of beautiful countryside that was once the old Middleton Estate - a regency parkland whose garden,
lakes, woodland, undulating hills and wildflower meadows provide a variety of habitats for plants and animal life to thrive. Not to be missed are the Great Glasshouse, Doubled Walled Garden, Bog Garden, Broadwalk and the lakes, not forgetting the Stable Block where you can purchase snacks. We return to Carmarthen mid afternoon with free time to relax before evening meal.
